Question:

Is there a way to have designated point of contacts in yahoo groups?

For my yahoo group, I'd like to have an email such as mygroup-treasurer@yahoogroups.com or mygroup-membership@yahoogroups.com. When people rotate out of these positions, we could just reassign who receives the emails. Is there a way to do this?

thanks.

  1. sorry, Yahoo only uses those per groups, and only as incoming e-mail to owners, only outgoing as reminders and files.

the only e-mail users are allowed is @yahoo.com

  2. No. I understand your concept - instead of email addresses you are speaking of, you could promote a member to be a moderator to deal with emails.  When it's time for that moderator to rotate out, you would change him/her back to member status and promote another member to be moderator. Then repeat with each rotation.  Emails to your group would always go to whoever is the current moderator plus the group owner. Just make sure that everyone involved is aware of the schedule of rotation so emails won't be left hanging.

To make a member a moderator, do the following:

Sign in to the group and click on Members.

Locate the member that you want to assign as moderator.

Click Edit Membership located underneath members name.

    Click Change to Moderator.

Scroll down and select the Notifications you want the new Moderator to receive.

Then underneath Moderator Privileges, select the privileges you wish to assign the person. (Delete this group is NOT recommended).

Click Make Moderator button on lower right side of page.

To change the moderator back to a member,

    Sign in to the group.

Click on "Members",  then click  the "Moderators" tab.

Click on the moderator's name.  Underneath the moderator's name, click on "Edit Membership".

This will pull up the moderator's information.  Underneath Membership Privileges, click "Change to Member".

Click "Save Changes" at bottom of page.
