Question:

Is there a way to increase my wireless signal strength to my desktop computer?

I've tried moving the router to within a few feet of the computer and all it does is DECREASE the signal strength to "very low" from "low". There is nothing between the computer and the router, and the router supplies my laptop with a "strong" signal.

  1. If the router is so close to the computer why don't you just direct connect it with a CAT5 cable instead of trying to do it wirelessly?  You'll get much better speed and connectivity.

  2. You can with this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as...

  3. no, buy new wireless router

  4. Do you have an antenna hooked up to your desktop?

If the router is so close to your desktop, just use a cable.

    Astrobuf

  5. If the laptop works fine and the desktop doesnt then you need to replace the desktops wireless card or at a minimum check the antenna on the desktops card.  either way, that is where your problem is.
