Is there a way to keep my business open after my Sim goes to another lot?

I bought all the Veronaville community lots and noticed that my businesses closed after I left them. Is there a way to keep them open after I leave?

Yes and no. When you call a taxi to go home or hop in your car, first your Sim will usher everyone off the lot and the business will close down. That won't change. However, you can promote one of your employees to manager (I think they have to have three levels in badges) and be able to check in with your business when you're at home using the phone or--I believe--the computer. You'll get money based on how well the business did the last time your sim was there. The money will decrease every day, which forces you to eventually go in again.
