I like to hang my laundry outside to dry however I always end up using my washer because I don't want to take any chances of any flies polluting my laundry.

  1. ive done this many times(well my moms idea) and we never had a problem, as long as its a windy day and not too hot and damp out, it will be fine.

  2. I did some research and here's what I found out.

Use mint as a fly repellent. Small sachets of crushed mint can be placed around the home (or hung on the clothes line) to discourage flies.

Bay leaves, cloves and eucalyptus wrapped in small cheesecloth squares can be hung by open windows or doors (or on the clothes line).

You can make your own flypaper with this simple recipe: Mix 1/4 cup syrup, 1 tbsp. granulated sugar and 1 tbsp. brown sugar in a small bowl. Cut strips of brown kraft paper and soak in this mixture. Let dry overnight. To hang, poke a small hole at the top of each strip and hang with string or thread.

A plastic bag filled with water and hung will repel flies from the area. Supposedly the fly can see his reflection in the bag and does not like it. I am not sure how true that part of it is, but for whatever reason, the bags really work.
