Is there a way to know whether the hamster you bought at the pet store is pregnant?

I might go to the pet store today and i was just wondering.:)

You can't tell until you have it for a while and then maybe notice it getting bigger. You can ask, but they can lie...and hamsters will eat their babies so be careful!

Well, quite obviously the size to start. If it looks like there are babies in there, yes, it is pregnant.

However, if the hamster just bred recently, it wouldn't really be possible to tell. Just take it home, and if it has babies within about 16-24 days, you can always just keep them until they are old enough to go back to the store. Most pet stores take donations, especially if the animal was pregnant before you bought it.
