  1. No. You need an aviation transceiver which can be very pricey.

  2. You can buy a hand held VHF scanner to listen in. You may not receive all the aircraft radios, but you will hear the tower and ATC, as their power out is higher.

  3. Well dont worry its not a federal offense. But you do need an aviation scanner. They're just like police scanners but only you can hear the planes flying over your head. I have one and listen to it all the time. There might be ipod hook up type things out there but you need the scanner to be able to hear the planes.

  4. no

exectly what the guy up there ^^^^^^^^ said

  5. got to www.LIVEATC.net you can listen to LIVE communications. its pretty neat. they have most major airports and keep adding new ones. when i listen to it...it plays through itunes. so i would think if you have a iphone, since it is always connected to the internet, you could listen whenever you want. but other that that you would need a scanner or a tranciever. radioshack has them...you can get them around 50-60 i think.

  6. yea all you gotta do is crack it open and recordinate the transmitter cords and you need an antenna or a small special satellite dish

  7. Better be careful!

Montering airline communications is more than likely a federal offence that could result in jail time and fines.

    It's overseen by the FAA
