I know my yard has tons of red hard rock buried in it. I want to be able to use a trencher to lay a sprinkler system. I was wanting to know if there is a way to locate the rocks that would be located where I would install my sprinkler lines, heads, etc... before I use the trencher to dig.

  1. push a two foot long metal rod into the ground along the path you plan to trench

  2. There is no way to determine where the rocks may be 2 ft underground. You will have to trench and solve the problem when it arises which is par for the course in New England.Speaking about par, our course had a new irrigation system installed some eight years ago and several tons of rock were removed with the project.
