Skype allows you to buy a local phone number in one country even if you are in another !  So in effect you can make a free call from one country to another. This doesnt work for all countries though.

Skype.  I talk to my friends in New Zealand all the time and see them on live webcam.

nothing is free, even skype will charge you a bit for call a home phone.

just compare the rates. try  jajah.com for pc-home calls, if you want home-anywhere, try a VOiP Service.  i am using one right now, with Video, and they have competitive international rates as well.
