  1. If you go to the grocery store and look in the section where Kool-aid is sold, you will see boxes of powered drink mix.  I have seen some for energizing drinks.  They probably don't taste like what you are used to, but if you  want to make it more flavorful add the power to fruit juice or clear sodas.

The caffeine is probably what you like, so maybe you can drink sodas or teas that are high in caffeine content.

  2. As the way energy drinks are made now you cannot make them at home. They have to add caffeine because none of the ingredients naturally have caffeine, unless they have guarana in it. They have to extract taurine from animals to put in. They have to get Multi B vitamins to add. Plus they use sugars and other stimulants.

The closest you can get with home products would be sweet tea, with some different fruits, corn syrup (or possiblye subsitute chocholate syrup) , a multi B complex tablet and throw them all in a blender. Can't say as that mix will taste good but then Red Bull is nasty so maybe you might have a hit.

The best energizer is water. It naturally increases our motabolism and energy by 3% each day. We need 1 ounce for every 2 pounds of body weight plus 8 more ounces every 20 minute of exercise. With hot/dry days and climates we need even more. When we are dehydrated we actually become tired.

This is the trap with caffeine. So many people use caffeine from sodas, tea, coffee, and energy drinks. Caffeine does 2 things that causes us to become tired despite the fact it is a stimulant. It depletes the body of B vitamins which are essential for energy. Plus it dehydrates us because it takes more water to process then caffeinated drinks provide. So many people drink so much caffeine and not enough water that it dehydrates them and makes them tired. They then think the solution is more caffeine. That is the trap.

I drink plenty of water and take very good quality nutritional supplements. I hardly ever need energy drinks. Good nutritional supplements will also increase energy as will additional multi B complex. The cost of a good supplement is less per day than an energy drink too. Plus we should be supplementing anyhow so this should not really be a concern to anybody.

I recommend just drinking plenty of water, especially an extra glass when you do have caffeine, and take a multi vitamin / multi mineral supplement and add a multi B vitamin. You should notice less of a need for the caffeine and sugar boost.
