Is there a way to make my computer a ten-key? ?

A computer can do a million + things. Why can't I get it to work like a ten-key; adding and subtracting then printing out the results? My GRANDPARENTS used ten-keys. Aren't they outdated?

  1. not sure what you mean by working like a ten-key.  A standard keyboard has the 10 key pad.  A laptop has it as well but it's on the regular letters. With a laptop look at the keyboard and you'll notice some of the keys (like j, k, l, etc) have numbers on the them as well. This indicates that you can use these as a 10 key pad.  Depending on the laptop you usually have to hold down the "function" ( or fn) key. With the function key held down, typing those letters actually types the numbers written on them.  For laptops you can also buy a separate 10 key pad that plugs into the usb port

just simply go into something like excel and type your numbers, then print it out.  There are also a number of "calculator" programs that show on a "paper tape" on the screen as you type in your numbers. And then you can print out the results.
