Question:

Is there a way to make really fudgy chocolatey brownies (not blondies) without cocoa powder? ?

I'm really craving brownies (not blondies) but I don't have any brownie mix on hand and ran outta cocoa powder. I live 10 + miles outta town and with the gas so high it's too expensive for me to just run to the store to go get a single ingredient (20 + miles back and forth). I have chocolate chips and chocolate syrup on hand plus the other basic brownie ingredients like flour, eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, chopped walnuts etc., I just don't have any cocoa powder which is what my usual brownie recipe calls for. Does anyone know of a brownie recipe that doesn't call for cocoa powder and please don't give any blondie recipes because I'd like these to be really fudgy and chocolately if that's even possible without using any cocoa powder? Thanks in advance.

  2. Hot cocoa mix like Swiss Miss.

  3. HERSHEY'S Syrup Snacking Brownies

    Ingredients:

1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine, softened

    1 cup sugar

    1-1/2 cups (16-oz. can) HERSHEY'S Syrup

    Directions:

    1. Heat oven to 350°F. Grease 13x9x2-inch baking pan.

    2. Beat butter and sugar in large bowl. Add syrup, eggs and flour; beat well. Stir in chocolate chips. Pour batter into prepared pan.

    3. Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until brownies begin to pull away from sides of pan. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Cut into bars. About 36 brownies.
