Is there a way to prevent betta nest from popping?

Everytime my betta makes a nest it keeps popping. Mostly when it hits the side of the styrafoam cup. Is there a way to prevent it from popping. Thanks

  1. I had the same problem with mine. Give him some time. This is a major step for your betta male. Don't release the female until his nest is bigger. This probably means leaving him to work overnight. I would try turning off your filter if that is creating disturbances in the top of the water. When my sponge filter was on, it started to ruin the nest. Don't worry- all you need is some time for your little guy!


  2. Put it in a glass bowl with some plants that float or reach the top of the water.

  3. If you are trying to breed your Betta you should not have any filter or gravel in the tank.You can take the bottom of a Styrofoam cup and let it float on the top of the water. the Betta will collect his bubbles under it and it will help hold the nest together.

  4. Your water may be too hard. If you're trying to spawn your bettas and it's important, you can try wrapping the top of the tank with plastic wrap to make it more humid. You can also add Black Water Extract, which you can find at a lot of pet stores. If you aren't spawning your bettas, then it really isn't a huge deal, though.
