  1. Consult an attorney.  Do not put your home in someone else's name.  They could be sued or they could kick you out of your home.  It wouldn't be your home anymore if your transferred it to someone else.

  2. It really depends on the laws where you live & the nature of the lawsuit, and the extent of the "damages"  Best to consult a lawyer in your area.

  3. You can file under the Homesteading Act at your local townhall. There shouldn't be any charge.

  4. No.. there isn't a law.. and your house may be taken and sold.

PUT IT IN SOMEONE ELSE'S NAME!! But even when you do so...  It is not failsafe because if the court finds that your intention in putting the house in someone else's name was to foil the court out of obtaining the house for auctioning purposes so that your debt may be settled then you may have to relinquish the house after all.
