i'd like organize files by both the Author of the file and the Title of the file

i'd rather not create multiple directories/subdirectories

i'd rather not include both the Author's name and Title in the Filename

is there a way to TAG files so that i can sort files via the columns in Windows Explorer so that one column is Author and another column is Title?

  1. click on view icon on your toolbar , tha would be just next to your Folders icon or click on file menu > then view and select the options

    "Details"

once its selected it will give you columns such as artist, size , type, year , album etc

Right click on column and select what all entries you want in the column and which entries yo don't.

If you want this type of view for all folders , click on tools . folder options> view tab .apply to all folders.

Tag file through your player(winamp, word etc) or just right click on it and tag it.

  2. For every file you want sorted: right click, Properties, Summary and add what you want - in Advanced you get more options.

To sort them follow this http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using... select the columns you want and arrange them how you want.
