We're using a DVD mini camcorder, but you only have approx 60 minutes of recording time on one of the small DVDs. I don't want to use a DVD-R-DL, because they're expensive and can only be used once. I would like some way to hook my camera to a device (like a DVD recorder) and record directly to a large DVD instead of the mini discs. Then I would take the larger DVD and use it in my duplicator to make the copies of the church service. I hooked the camera to my personal DVD recorder and I could see everything on TV as I moved the camera around, but whenever I press the record button on the DVD Recorder, it tells me that it can't record because the device is copywright protected. I'm not sure why it thinks me videoing the contents of my home is copyrighted, so there must be some reason that it want allow me to just record whatever the camcorder is pointed at without having to use the DVD in the camera. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Chris

  1. I don't think you can do what you want to do sorry to say. But just to be sure why don't you visit the Sony support site. They have FAQ's & live help to answer your dilema. See the site below>> Good Luck!!!

  2. you didn't say how the camera was attached to the recorder. if it is by ieee1394, then the camera may be setting the copy protect flag in the data stream. this setup should work if you use the analog A/V cables instead.
