  2. Nope. The usage rights feature is built into the file itself.  If you're using something like Bearshare you may get a file that plays untill a predetermined date... THEN you have a hard drive full of useless music.. UNLESS you want to pay... And pay again when THAT subscription runs out...(YES, I have a major hatred for the recording industry's financial rapist philosophy)  

       What you CAN do with limited time files like that is to get an mp3 encoder/recorder program. It works like a virtual tape deck. You'll have to play every song thru it, encode it to another format (Like .WMA) then delete the original file. The new version's a permanently usable copy.  

  3. That's the beauty of mp3, it doesn't and cannot contain a code to limit how much time it can be played, burned etc.

  4. I wrote an application to modify the information for MP3 files. I don't recall any copyright info in there. Let me do some research and if I find something I'll update my program and send it to you...
