I just finished my remodel and the county inspector won't give me final because my copper kintchen sink came from Mexico. Is there a way to fight this? Is there anything I could do to get them to sign off on this. They want me take out the sink. It is under mount in granite!! It would cost thousands. Please help!!!

  1. Yes.  First ask the inspector to show you where his ruling is written.  It has to be in code or regulation for him to enforce it.  If he can't show you, and that is the only reason, kick the problem higher in the plumbing or building department.  If that doesn't solve the problem, take it to the County administration.

Caution, though.  He may be relying on a code requirement regarding lead.  The copper may contain lead.  You could still come out ahead by showing that water that may be contaminated in the sink is never ingested.
