Is there a way to rig my canon SD600 for better sound range?

According to one review I read, the microphone is that little hole to the left of the lens as you look at the front of the camera. Make sure you aren't covering it with your fingers while you are holding the camera.

Other than that, there really isn't a whole lot you can do to improve sound. If sound quality is super important to you, you might consider getting a camcorder, where you can mount a high quality microphone onto the camera.
