Uhm i think the easiest way is... use the new version of firefox which is  firefox 3. Find the Add-ons "DownloadHelper" ( find the "Tools" in the task bar and click "Add-ons", in the add-ons window click "Get Add-ons"  and browse all the add-ons so that you may find it^^ ) and install it it on your browser, be sure to restart your browser because that's the only way you can use it. After that, you can download any videos not only from youtube but to other sites as well^^

In fact, you can download YouTube videos for free in many way... but you must clear the video you download is FLV format  which can go nowhere, you need to play it with a FLV Converter.

if you want to put this video on your MP3 Player, iPod, PSP or other mobile devices. you need to convert it.

So if there is a tool can download and convert it to the right format and you can also crop or trim this video. it would be much better.
