you can add a hit counter but that's it. people have suggested this, you can locate it and add a vote

No, not at this time but that is a great idea to suggest.  There's a link on Yahoo Groups for giving feedback on the Yahoo Groups homepage.  Go to the bottom left hand corner where it says, "Give us Feedback".
