The play doh is stored properly but is drying out - becoming hard and less pliable.

  1. I do not know how to soften store bought play dough, but here is a very easy recipe from my son's pre-school teacher.  Plus, it SMELLS GREAT!  I usually double it.

    KOOL-AID PLAYDOUGH

    1  cup flour

    1/4  cup salt

    2  tablespoons cream of tartar

1  envelope KOOL-AID Unsweetened Soft Drink Mix, any flavor

    1  cup water

    1  tablepspoon cooking oil

    1.  Mix all ingredients in a medium frying pan.

    2.  Cook on medium heat 3 to 5 minutes or until mixture forms a ball in pan, stirring every now and then.

    3.  Cool slightly.

    4.  Place on floured surface; knead for 1 minute and you are ready to shape and mold.

    5.  Store in a zipper-style plastic bag or a plastic container.

  2. Usually overtime it will soften after you open it, or just keep on rolling it your hands.

  3. Yes what would be best to do if you dont want to open it is to get a hot water bottle (I know it sounds silly) fill it with hot water and put the tubs of dough on it, then get a towel and put copper wires on top then wrap it around the dough with the water bottle inside, this way the heat from the water bottle will go through the wires around the tubs of dough, then it will be insulated by the towel, this heats the dough up a bit and makes it softer.

Or if you can open it try getting 2 or 3 drops of boiling water and put them on the dough then work it through with your hands.

  4. this works with my little brothers. we had some play doh that we were playing with and it has some crusty parts and it was no fun so I put it in a bowel and added vegetable oil and mixed it and it maid it nice and cool. It will be kind of liquidy so put it in a starner. Or you can make your  own play doh. ITS SO FUN!

    1 c. flour

    1 c. boiling water

    2 tbsp. cream of tartar

    1/2 c. salt

    1 tbsp. oil

    Food coloring

  6. Smush it ALOT it might work pretty good.

  7. add some oil and manipulate it together. to make it last longer, store it in the fridge

  8. No!  Throw it away and get some new play dough.

  9. nope but there is a way to make your own. it lasts way longer. just look it up "how to make playdoh". btw what are you doing with playdoh?

  10. yes there is you can add little water just a couple drops and as you add water it should come back to life

  11. I think you can add a couple of drops of vegetable oil to it and work it in.

  12. Before closing the tubs sprinkle or lightly spray with water.  At the next use, work the play doh to distribute the water.  Repeat this to keep it pliable.
