My jaw keeps clicking everytime i open my mouth fully and its clicking on my right side of my jaw. Its incredibly anoying because everytime I open my mouth wider than a cirtain size, it just clicks. When i apply pressure to the spot where i clicks on my right side of my jaw, basically on my cheek, it stops.

Is there a decent way of getting my jaw to stop clicking?? its so anoying please help.

ps. I used to have braces and othodontic treatment, incase that helps.

  1. I have the same issue... in fact a few years ago it got so bad I couldn't actually open my jaw BEYOND a certain point!

I had a word with my doctor and dentist and they said it is all to do with the cartilidge on the side of the skull interfering with the jaw bone and the click you get is the jaw bone snapping past the cartilidge.

Putting pressure on it simply presses the cartilidge down and that lets the jaw bone past without a click.

There is only one way to completley fix it... and that is surgery. The surgeon literally shaves off a layer of the catilidge so it doesn't affect the jaw bone anymore.

However, the surgery is VERY risky as there is a lot of important nerves in the same area and even the slightest knick and you could permanently lose feeling and/or control of that side of your face.

I decided it wasn't worth the risk... Sure it's annoying, but I got used to it... and I'd rather have a click now and then than nerve damage.

It's up to you... I'd go and talk to a dentist about it.

  2. See a Physio and get your jaw aligned properly.

  3. i also have this problem

people say just leave it so and it will stop. it never worked.

I tried chewing a gum, the clicking stops for a long period of time ( one month or so ) but then it returns. a temporary solution

i think there isn't any way.
