You could use a photovoltaic cell to charge a battery, then use the battery at will to power a lamp with a solar light spectrum.

Whilst it is very difficult to imagine, I think there was an artical on the BBC News website about some scientists that had managed to do it.

Mabye it's just me though.

You can convert the energy through a solar panel in to electricty and store that in a battery.  Then you can use the battery to power a torch.

Not very efficient (you lose most of the sunlight) but it does work.

No.  You can store the solar-sourced power in a battery or capacitor and use it to run a light source later, but that was not your question.  You can't "save" light in the same way that you cant "save" sound.
