My dog was given to me over a year ago, she hasn't shown any signs of being in heat.

  1. If you got her as adult and she hasn't gone into heat in a year chances are she was spayed but unless the vet that spayed her applied a tattoo to her abdomen or your vet can see the scar there is no way to know for sure except surgery

  2. If you've had her for a year, and she hasn't gone into heat, then it's safe to say she's been spayed.  Female dogs will go into season 1-3 times per year, depending on breed and the individual dog.

  3. dogs come into heat every 6 month or so and if she hasnt come into heat yet she must be fixed

  4. You mean aside from the huge scar on the abdomen?

  5. Ask the vet to check for scar tissue on her tummy. I would double check. More then likely she is. Why not ask the people who gave her to you? Im sure they might be able to tell you her old vet!
