Is there a way to tell the age of marijuana?

i am not using this for illegal purposes, i need to know if you can tell like if its browner or something? not the plant, the harvested version of the drug?

eeehhhh its a grey area.

NEW fresh GOOD marijuana will be potent and stink, in the good way.

the color can often be a throw off because different strains have different shades of green, ie the last stuff i bought, at first glance looked like ditchweed, a kind of brownish green that looked like it was old, but then i smelled it and i was blown back, and it turned out to be very potent stuff.

however, even the odor can be a throwoff, because you can buy new stuff that was just harvested, but if its low grade stuff, then it wont smell very much.  

theres no real way to tell.  just ask whoever grew and cured it how old it is, if possible.

It looks more intense coloured and is slioghtly more hard when fresh. The colour dulls or fades and the material becomes more moist/humid when smelled or touched when it is old or kept in open for long time.

Now a days with advances in packing the stock can remain fresh for longer times. Proper packing makes it difficult to smell it.

The similarity in old and fresh can be comapared with tea poweder from a freshly opened packet and the same powder when kept in open for more than 24 hours. Compare them by description, smell and touch. You will get the diffwerences.

Fresh product smell sweetish, pungent, old leaves are dust and weak.

Well, it looks brown and it smells stale.  Fresh product smells sweet and pungent, old product smells weak.

No, there isn't.  The previous two answers are incorrect.  Those people are guessing.  It can be different colors depending on the variety as well as how it was dried and cured, or if it has been exposed to light and air, which degrade it.  Fresh product will have a pungent smell, but well aged (cured) will smell different but may well be more potent the longer it cures.
