Is there a way to tell what color the colt at our barn will be?

A colt was born at our barn on 6-22-08. He is currently a chestnut horse, but I know that foals always/can change colors. So far, we haven't seen a grey eye lash, or hair or anything. The under part of his tail, his socks, and his belly are the only grey parts of him we have seen. However, he is a purebred Arabian, and grey is the dominant gene for them. His mother is grey (Has a chestnut dad and a grey mom) and his father is grey too (with a grey mom and bay dad). I know that if he had two chestnut grandparents then he could turn grey, so is there a way to tell what color he will be??? Any help is appreciated!

  1. he will  probably be the same, chestnut,or brown.

  2. I don't think there is any way to tell you for sure... unless you have some way of doing genetic testing! But I would bet he is going to stay chestnut, maybe even darken in color as he ages.  The grey he has on him will most likely stay, but there is no way to tell for sure.. you just have to see! I'm sure he will turn out beautiful either way!
