I'm getting rid of the main computer, and transfering everything over to a laptop; is there a way I can transfer Itunes to the laptop, so I don't lose all of my music stored on it? Thanks.

  1. Transferring the actual program is unnecessary as it is a free program, and you can just download it to the new system. I'm sure you're looking to figure out how to get your music over...

Move the music the same way that you are moving any other file. Either burn to a disc, or put on a flash drive. When you get it on the new system, you will have to authorize the new computer to play music from the old one. You can do this in one of the options menus.

  2. when you get a new computer, take the tower to the place where you bought the new computer, and they will transfer stuff from your old tower to you new one.

  3. yeah. buy yourself a flash drive with enough GB to fit all of your music to transfer it. now, to do that, you have to go to the the folder "my music" and go to the "iTunes" folder then just drag all of your music from there to the flashdrive, then you put it in your other computer.

    that easy

  4. A flash drive probably wont' be big enough to transfer all of them in one shot.  You're probably better off spending money on an external usb hard drive, which you'll also be able to use as a backup system for your computer.

Go into your Music folder (C:\Users\your_name\Music if you're running Vista) and you'll see an iTunes folder.  Right-click it and select Properties to find out how much space you'll need on the drive... it will tell you the size of all music files in that folder.

Once you get your drive then you can copy this folder to it, plug it into the new computer, and then import them using iTunes on the new computer (free install from www.apple.com/itunes).

Another way to do this is to copy them to your iPod and then use a program like iPod 2 iTunes to copy them directly from your iPod to your other computer.  I use this method when copying music from my iPod to my wife's computer - works great and is well worth the few bucks I spent to buy the program.
