Is there a way to transfer the audio on a casset tape to a cd?

I did it once with my old computer that had a audio card with a program that was set up for recording.  I forgot the name of the program.  All I did was hook up a cassette player to the mic on the computer and had the computer record the signal at 128kbs rate.  Then when it was finished I burned a cd.  This is probably not the best way to do it thoe.
