ok, i was wondering if there was a way to change XP directly into vista, not just the look, but all of the program files, the system files, the windows files, and the like. the only reason i am asking is because my friend wants to know, but he doesnt have internet access.

  1. yeah, upgrade to Vista

  2. Best OS ive ever used , alot safer then xp by far. compatiblity wont be an issue in time but other than that this os beats out xp id say. ive used both xp and vista for about equal amounts of time and id prefer vista for sure. id buy this again definately.

  3. stay with XP. you'll regret getting Vista.

  4. well of course...BricoPack Vista ....changes icons, sounds and start bar and windows.

  5. Visual wise yes,

    go to crystalxp . net

there you can download these layout type things that make your computer look like windows vista.

:] i always download from there, very safe and fun.

  6. I just installed Vista Home Premium on my older AMD-64 939-based computer with 2 gigs of RAM and I've had no major problems. Rather than try to upgrade my Windows XP, I bought a new, bigger drive (500 Gig Western Digital)and did a clean install. During the install there were a couple of times that I thought that things got hung up, but I was wrong. Vista takes quite a bit of time to anaylze the system before installing. Once Vista was up and running, everything went great. I love how it looks and feels and I didn't find things hard to find at all. I do recommend that you get 4 gigs of RAM though. Although I haven't had any RAM issues so far, Vista consumes about 32% of my 2 gigs RAM while idling. I have already ordered 2 more gigs. Don't beleive the people who say Vista sucks. It is more likely that their computers do not have hardware that can meet the demands of Vista.

  7. If your computer has the appropiate hardware.   You can upgrade your XP to Vista.    Just go out and buy the Vista upgrade and install.    Note-->   Be sure to backup your personal data.

  8. Hahahahahaha! I think the correct answer is "with the appropriate amount of funds".

The long answer is, no. You're perhaps thinking of Windows 2003 Server and its relationship to XP. WinXP is Windows 2003 Server, the variant/product that hosts some very large web sites. It's either one or a very small number of registry tweaks to make it so. Think of it like a house with locked doors...

  9. Of course you can but I dont advise it.  If the PC was not built for vista, there will be too many complications.  Vista still has bugs in it so I'm sticking with XP for a bit longer.

  10. Dude, Vista sucks! Tell your friend to get a Mac! He can run XP off it and guess what, Vista runs better on a Mac!

  11. all my new computers have XP. better off not getting vista

  12. Well I would say stay with XP. You cant buy it anymore and its much better than Vista. Vista is the worst thing for a computer, its gaming capabilities are c**p and while many play there is always an error with something, also with business its just a pain in the butt.

But if he really wants to switch it over then I'm sure he can just buy a Vista package or something. I would tell him to check with a real PC wizz at a Best Buy or Staples or something.

    Good luck.

  13. its not worth it. vista is horrible.  It just looks pretty

  14. yes you can buy the upgrade edition of Vista and just upgrade your computer to vista it will save all your programs and files and change it into vista just remember once you upgrade it there is no going back you would have to reinstall xp completely and then you will loose all of your installed programs and files

  15. No, you have to get a legitimate version of Windows Vista. There is a skin for Windows XP that will change the appearance of your desktop.

  16. yeah i think you can.u can buy the program at best buy or any other store that has pc software. its a windows vista program to turn your xp to vista. its kinda expensive.theres like three different ones
