Is there a way to turn a drawing of a line onto the sound of it. soundwaves etc.?

is there a device, program etc. that can or could turn a drawing of a line on a piece of paper or on computer into the sound of that drawing. i know of soundwaves and the line that can be produced etc. can it be done other way around. hope not to silly question but would appreciate answer

What parameters would you have for the line...say a particular width and length to represent.....tone and amplitude? What qualities are you going to have in the interpretaion of the line? Would color (colour) have a representation? Just thoughts as I really don't know.
