Is there a way to work that "smoky eyes" look with out looking too "emo"?

Use a dark plum color or or grey/blue color and instead of using back eyeliner use a dark brown, or turn one of your darker eye shadows into a liner so its not the evening/ emo black on black but gives the smokey eye

First: Line your inner rim of your eye with basic, black eye liner. Thicken it though towards the end of your eye, for dimension.

Next: Get a liquid linder, and do a small cats eye or &quot;wing&quot; going out. The liquid eye liner should go right ontop of your lash line.

Then: You can use your concealer or foundation as a primer, so that your eye make up lasts longer, so just sweep this accross your entire eye lid, up to your brow bone.

Then: Take a cream colored shadow and sweep accross your entire lid, and up to your brow bone, for the base of the eye.

Then: Take a charcoal shadow, and work the eye shadow brush along the cats eye line, then going into the crease. Make sure to blend the cream &amp; charcoal well enough.

Yes, it depends on two things:

1. the colors you use

2. the application of the shadows

#2 is probably the most important. To make smoky eyes look smoky it all depends on your skills of blending. I&#039;d recommend investing in makeup brushes, an angled brush or a blender brush will really help you blend the colors together way better than a sponge tip will. Target or even the dollar store will be a good place to start.

Also if you apply it really heavy then you will look as if you have a black eye. Be careful because smoky eyes aren&#039;t meant to make you look like you have a ring around your eye, especially if you&#039;re gonna use eye liner on your waterline or upper lash line. If you wanna use eyeliner, go light on it too. Too much black around the eyes makes them smaller.

You can go to Wal-Mart and by L&#039;Oreal&#039;s eyeshadow quad for smoky eyes and I think it is called that too. You will know it is it when you see it because there will a set of 4 shadows with shades of black and gray. Or you could also use different colors instead of black if you&#039;re afraid it will look too &quot;emo&quot;.

I would love to know! I too am a fan of the smokey eye....but am afraid people will think I&#039;m emo. d**n me with my natural dark brown hair and pale skin!
