Is there a way you can understand and talk to you dog or cat jw

well my cat understands someones feelings by the tone of voice and you know when he is sad by he kind of looks all sad

Haha, I talk to my cat sometimes. I know it's sounds stupid but I can tell what she wants by her different meows.

i think animals understand us.

they come for us for attention and we pet them and love them...

i think your dog understands when your talking to him.

Yup, read up on dog and cat communication. Study on vocalizations as well as body language. And observe your pets this your newly found research in mind. If you pay close attention, you may notice subtle emotions and such.

A dog can be just a dog if you ignore it, but if you really try to "read" it, you will see that it has a whole personality based on how it reacts to things.

I was hoping to understand my dogs as well...I think as you live with them you know what each bark and gesture means based on what it has meant in the past, but as far as speech, there is no way to know what they are actually saying, too bad though.

The only way is by understanding basic body language. Just notice how your dogs react whenever you do something, and get familiar with it. :|

I don't think we can actually talk like a dog but if you train them, they might get accustomed to it too.

Whenever I go out, and come back home, everytime I open the gate and say 'inside', my dog actually understands me and gets inside. :|

And I didn't bother to get a surprised reaction. It's just their natural stimuli, I guess.. XD
