Is there a we suit that takes place of a life jacket

I wondered if there was a wetsuit for swimming and or kayaking that would take the place of a life jacket. Also it would be nice if it were inexpensive.

  1. No, although a wetsuit is buoyant, there are not any that are certified by the Coast Guards a PFD (personal floatation device).  If it is not certified, it does not count.

    Some kayakers here (Pacific NW) wear a wetsuit and a kayaking PFD.


  2. Yes, it's a survival suit and the cost upwards of $1000.. so a wet suit is cheaper and easier to move around in

  3. Barefoot waterskiing wetsuits have floatation systems inside them, so that barefooters do not have to wear a life vest.
