my outboard runs with choke on but sputters off when i turn the choke off, i put a sponge in the air intake and it runs fine. anyone have a suggestion. thank you.

Hi you need to ajust the carb ....  its geting too much air..... running too lean..

You can call the Honda dealer near you with the engine seial number and that will give you the age,....  then go  amazon.com and by the repair manual... Thats the easiest way.....
