Neopets (neopets.com) if you join and go to the neoboards

I played when I was 11-12 and I quit. The AVATAR boards have a lot of amazing people, or used to, I guess.

Gaia is an avatar roleplaying site which is probably A LOT better than neopets because a lot more mature people use it.

Other than that there's facebook.

And if you decide that you want to download something, maplestory is definitely my recommendation.
