try Freecycle! it's great for clothes and theyre everywhere.  ..  www.freecycle.org

The city of New York has a great webpage resource for donations, including clothing (see first link).  They also have NYC Stuff Exchange, a resource for finding where you can, among other things, donate clothing in your area.  (see second link)

An interesting concept that's starting up with regard to donating things you don't want that others might is Freecycling (see third link), where groups of people exchange things they don't want so it doesn't go into landfill.
