Yes  I've just been told about this one and I've found it good but only up till about 1920.  It is not fully transcribed yet but they are working on it.  What I like is that there's no need to trawl through pages of records  -- it finds what you want with the month shown rather than the quarter.

Yes there is.  Go to www.rootsweb.com and look through the listing of categories.  You'll find quite a bit there of which one is the Social Security Death Index.  That will give you a fairly good start.
