  1. You are an adult...why do you need to be adopted?  That seems strange, I am not even sure there is anything legally that they do for adult adoptions.  I would look it up. Plus, you also have to get your parents, whoever was on your birth certificate to surrender rights...that they no longer have because you are an adult.  That whole idea makes no sense...

  2. If you wait a few years, you will be able to adopt a child through the foster care system.  That is  usually significantly less expensive than a private adoption or otherwise going through a lawyer or agency.

However, you are too young to start thinking of adopting.  You need to be able to show that you are mature, stable, capable, and able to parent effectively.

If you are determined, call your local state Child Protective Services offices and talk to them.  They will be able to provide you with the details.

  3. Are you asking about you being legally adopted by someone else or are you asking about you adopting someone?  The first part of your question, "im 19 and dont think i can get legally adopted,"  suggests that you want to be adopted by someone else.  You can check with an attorney or you can simply check your state's official Website to get more information on adoptions, including adoptions of one adult by another.

Adults can be adopted by other adults.  I am familiar with the law regarding this matter in both California and Nevada.  The court fees in these states are extremely reasonable.  Because you are an adult, you do not have to have your current parents relinquish their rights.  If you or the person who will adopt you are married, both of these states require your spouses to sign notarized affidavits that they are okay with the adoption.

Adult adoptions normally have to do with legal matters, such as inheritances and allowing the adopted adult to be next of kin when extreme medical decisions, like whether or not to keep life support on, need to be made for the person who is adopting.

There are other reasons that adults adopt one another as well.  For example, in the majority of states, g*y marriages are not recognized.  Because of this, the partners have no legal rights in terms of one another.  Adult adoption allows them to have next of kin rights for each other.

  4. Your state should have a phone number for the bar association.  If you call them, you can get a referral to an adoption lawyer, and because you use their system, you will get a large discount on the consultation fee (at least that's what I hear).  I would go talk to a lawyer and see what s/he says.  There are a lot of things you can take care of yourself if you have the application and can fill it out without assistance.  Most of the time, you can file the application with the courts yourself and pay a fee.  It won't be free, but this is the least expensive avenue I can think of.  Discounted lawyer fee, fill out the app yourself...

Good luck!  Oh and btw, you are talking about someone adopting YOU, am I correct?

Edit:  I didn't see your other post (the one that said you're in the UK) until after I had replied to this one...so ignore the whole bar association spiel.  :-)  I know nothing about the legal system in the UK.  Good luck!

  5. The only adoption fee in the UK is the Court fee, currently £140.  Private adoptions (involving money changing hands) are illegal due to their pre-disposition to corruption and coercion (as evidenced by the system in the USA!)

The Court may be able to advise you if legal adults can be adopted and/or have the relevant forms.   A family solicitor normally gives a free half hour initial interview

  6. As an adult unless you are  disabled or incapable to competently live on your own (in which case you would be in state care if you had no other family to care for you and possibly able to be placed for adoption by the state), but if you just want to be adopted to be adopted, NO you can't.

There is no such thing as a "free adoption" anyway.

If you are under 18 and a minor your parents have to be the one's to place you and then terminate their rights to be your parents before an adoption can take place. This entire question coming from someone at 19 years old sounds made up and ridiculous anyway.

  7. you are 19 and you want smoeone to adopt you??

let me guess you watn to find a filthy rich family to mooch off?

    hahaha

    seriously

you have reached the legal age 19 therefore the chances are slim

unless you find a sugar daddy who wishes to "adopt" you

  8. your legally a man by the courts eye after the age of 18 so unless you are completely disabled by a mental or physical birth defect and you can't function normally without a parent figure in your life, you cant be adopted anyways, so if you want to live on your own and have your own freedoms go to collage learn a career and pursue it. that is where you will feel at peace with yourself.

  9. Certainly if you can find someone who wants to legally adopt you it can be done. It wouldn’t be free they would have to pay some court fees.  Though people who get adopted  who are of legal age mostly occurs step-parents adopting their step-children, who couldn’t adopt prior to the child turning 18 because one of their bio parents would not sign their rights away. In the cases I have read or heard about typical the parent who refused to sign had very little to nothing to do with the child(ren). Did not sign simple out of spite towards their Ex.  People who have sever disabilities that need some one to care for them. You talk to a lawyer and they can provide you with the state protocol.

  10. no i dont think so cus u gotta have a lawyer

  11. nope

  12. no, there isn't
