  1. Not with just the serial number and you won't get registration info anyway.

If you have the manufacturer, model # AND serial number, you might be able to go to the manufacturer website and get more info on that particular firearm.

  2. I can't find a website that is like the one you describe, and I doubt one exists, but most guns have the name of the manufacturer somewhere on the gun, or else there is a trademark/logo that can help you figure out who made it. If the manufacturer still exists today, you can call them and get more info.  If not, you may want to take it to a gun shop and see if they can help you figure out more about the gun. good luck.

  3. NO, the make or Brand of the gun is marked on it somewhere.* Look closer.* The Model number should also be on it.*

  4. No.

  5. NO --- There is no "Carfax" for guns thank god.... I would hate that -- al the freaks and weirdos calling me to ask me about a gun I owned decades ago..... When I sell a rifle I never want to see or hear about it again.....

  6. no

Up until the mid sixties, guns didn't even need serial numbers

Serial numbers are only unique to a particular model of gun.  While there is only one Smith and Wesson 686 with serial number 47545, there are probably a dozen guns with serial number 47545, shotguns, rifles, semiautos, etc etc.

Unless you live in D.C. New York City, Hawaii, (or California and are asking about an assault rifle) there is no gun registration.

  7. Registered? What do you mean 'registered'?

90% of places in the US have no sort of firearm registration whatsoever....that's a TV land fantasy. It serves to protect the People's right to own firearms free from government restriction.

No such database of gun serial numbers exist...anywhere. Not even the FBI keep gun serial numbers records, except for stolen ones.

Describe the gun to the best of your ability, including all writing, and we can likely tell you what it is.
