I noticed on the FIVB website that their rankings are per team. I was just curious if they have set a ranking system based on individual players' performance?

  1. Yes, they have a ranking system.  It is at

    http://www.fivb.ch/EN/BeachVolleyball/Ra...

Here is how they figure it.

The 2007 SWATCH-FIVB World Tour champions for men and women will be determined by calculating the points for a team’s best 13 finishes for men and 12 for women based on 75 percent of the men’s (18) and women's (17) events staged this season and rounded down.

  2. The other answer assumes your talking about beach volleyball. In case you were referring to indoor FIVB volleyball, there are no individual "rankings" for players...just for the team. For example, the USA team is currently ranked 5th in the world. However, each tournament has "awards" based on individual performance (statistics) that are basically rankings of individual players. You can, for example, go to the FIVB website and click on "World League 2007", and follow that on the left with "Best Players" tab. You will see the rankings there. It is also notable that each category's winning or "best player" receives big money for this accomplishment from the FIVB. For example, team USA's libero Rich Lambourne won best libero at the World League and took home $15,000 extra prize money himself! In larger tournaments such as the upcoming World Cup, the top scorer earnes $100,000 for the tournament.
