Is there a written test you take to get your license?

I could've sworn that there was..But my boyfriend just got his license a couple days ago and he told me they only had him do maneuver ablility...or however you spell it lol...But there was no written test. And I wanna know because I get my license in a few months and I wanna know what to expect.

There is only a written test if you are trying to get a permit. After the permit, you take the driving test to finally get your license.

In the state of California, you have two parts to getting your driving license. The first test is the written part, and once you pass, you take the driving test. I suppose it is possible that your boyfriend got his license without taking the written part of the examination. These requirements and laws vary from state to state.

This may very from state to state. In california  the Written test is required to get the permit, the thing that lets you drive with a licensed driver in the front seat. After that, all it takes is a behind the wheel test after you have put in the necisary hours.
