  1. Essentially the answer is no.  All rain is somewhat acid because carbolic acid is formed as the rain water combines a little with the CO2 in the atmosphere.  

    The true meaning of acid rain is when the rain water combines with man made pollutants.

    Look at the map on this page and you can see that Burbank would be in the slightly (natural) acid rain area.  If you look in the New England area you will see the PH is significantly lower (more acidic).

    I think that the New England area is the second worst in the world, only topped by some of the eastern European countries, including the Black Forest area of Germany.  I read that many years ago in Scientific American Magazine so it may be different by now.
