Question:

Is there actually a Yahoo Statements area? If someone's reply is disputed is there a way to reply to it?

I recently answered (or thought I did) a statement to the question:

"What were the 10 best boxing movies?" Someone commented that he did not include Raging Bull because it was too much of a

" Guido-c**p" movie. That to me was a knock against Italian fighters. I then submitted a question titled: "What is the knock against Italian fighters". Someone wrote back that mine was not a question but should have been submitted as a "Yahoo Statement". I agree. Unfortunately, I could not find a section where I could respond without actually going the "Questions" route. Is there an area for Statements and if not, would one be considered? I think it is important to be able to respond to something that appears to be way off the mark. This way people could ponder both sides of an opinion or statement.

  1. If you disagree with someone's answer to a question, you pretty much have two choices of responding:

First, if you feel you have a better answer to the same question, you can word your answer to reflect how theirs was wrong and yours is correct--but keep in mind that this is for the benefit of the person who asked the question, not for you to debate the question with the other answerer.  Also remember to keep your answer respectful to the other answerers as well as the asker, or else it would be considered abuse.

If you disagree with an answer but don't want to answer the same question, or have something you want to say to the answerer out-right, the thing to do is to message them on their Y!A profile and tell them that you disagree.  While this won't do anything in terms of the Answers community, it is a good way to make sure that private conflicts will be aired out in private--where they belong.

  2. There is a Comments section on each question page where you can opine about anything you want.

That section comes up after the voting process has concluded.
