I ask this question because I'm planning on writing a story and one of the characters is Irish. I'm American so I know absolutely nothing about Ireland. I have quite a few questions about Carlow Ireland and I'd appreciate it if someone could answer them. The questions are: What is the economy like in this area?

What are the family lives like?- What I mean by this question is what lifestyle do the majority of people in Carlow live? Do most farm or are there more varieties of jobs and activities than that.

What is the school system like in this area?

Finally, my las and most important question: Is there alot of racism in Carlow?

  1. Yea, I hat those Carlowites.  They think they are such hot stuff.  The women are way overweight.  And the guys? Tiny if you know what I mean.

  2. yes

  3. ive never seen any racist gestures there. Carlows great for a weekend a way, people are nice, its rural but near dublin.

they are c**p at playing gaa! nice county doh

schools are good. education is free in ireland most school provide ECDL training which is computer training so a bonus for alot of students.

carlow is just like any other families in ireland. some mothers work, others dont . alot of kids play gaelic football, hurling and soccer.

  4. Generally speaking the economy in Carlow is good, as its near Dublin, but its a very rural county, and farming is important for the bigger cities. Family life can be very different, many people would continue to work on the farms they grew up on, and people in the towns might just work around in shops, but theres also carlow institute of technology, and the universites in dublin aren't too far away. Generally speaking if carlow is like where i live, wicklow (county to its right), there would be a bit of racism, which is unfortunately part of modernday multi-cultural Ireland. Then again, this is because its only recently that its become so multi cultured, and most people are open to new people, the rural counties are usually better than the cities, and its only under-educated school dropouts that can be so ignorant to be racists for no reason, most are brought up well, but theres always a few, no matter where you go, we are known as the land of a thousand welcomes as it is! the lifestyle is not that different to anywhere else.

  5. Ok,im not from Carlow, but I know it well so i'll give my honest views, they may not be correct.

Economy:not great, but getting better. For example, house prices are increasing because people are commuting to Dublin for work.

Families:In my experience,Carlow's a bit rough. I know some really nice people from there, and I love it but there's a lot of skangers/chavs. not a lot of farms.

School System:I don't know of any particularly good schools there, none are very academic.

    Racism:Same as everywhere else.

  6. HI THERE BEEN IRISH AND HAVE BEEN TO CARLOW A FEW I HAVE NOT SEEN OR HEARD OF ANY RACISM IN CAR LOW

  7. carlow is the laughing stock of ireland

  8. I am not sure about Carlow.  But I do know it is the sister city of Tempe, Arizona.  You can find some infor by searching for Ireland Sister cities.  or Tempe Arizona sister city.

I go to Ireland every year and I have some great friends who treat me like family.  When I go I meet new ones that open their homes to you.

I think racism comes with the person itself.  Irish and Black Americans have a lot in common in their history.  You would be surprised.
