  1. Yes- depending on the country your from, for instance the USA olympic commitee gave $25,000 for a gold during the last winter olympics. Some countries give more some less and some give nothing.

  2. NO, none!

  3. No

  4. Yes.  The Olympics do not give money but many countries give their athletes cash for winning.  Countries that do this include Greece, US, Canada, Japan, Germany, Israel, Malaysia, and Russia.

Belarusian athletes will be given $100,000, $50,000, and 30,000 each in their home country for gold, silver and bronze medals respectively. Belarusian athletes who win gold medals at the Beijing Olympics will be provided with meat and sausage for the rest of their lives, a meat company announced.

  5. No, just the honor and privilege of representing one's country. There are those athletes who sign advertising and sponsor deals due to their performances and popularity in the Olympics. So the money can come later!!!

I just found out by reading another question that I was wrong. I always thought  there was not any monetary privilege during the Olympics but rather what occurred later because of performances. However, I see there is a link and it is mentioned here too. Check it out. There is an actual pay schedule.
