Is there an American beer similar Duvel (a Belgian golden ale)?

I'm not a beer expert but some one turned me on to Duvel. It might be the best beer (taste and strength) I've ever had. However, its pretty d**n expensive (at least in California). What's the closest domestic beer to Duvel? I'd settle for a cheaper Belgian beer if the taste and strength were close and available.

pranqster from north coast brewing is a good domestic example of the style, belgian strong pale ale. It's brewed in Fort Bragg, CA., and I'm sure you can find it all over California.

I've had it, it's delicious.

Well there is an acquired branch of Duvel that was a sold microbrewery...peep it here.   Its brewed in Cooperstown...Its good but its probably still expensive.

I dont think your going to find anything that comes close to Duvel if you dont want t spend $$$$$$$

it sucks I know but its the cost of greatness! plus the nice high alcohol content helps out too...
