you don't need a ticket to the Golden Temple. If your an NRI, they have NRI rooms for staying and I'm sure if you ask they can provide a tour with the history. Otherwise when you get there you can ask any one of the sevadaras to assit you. If you want to do seva yourself, there are only certain things you can do, since things move very fast there, experience is a plus!!! You can get there by air or train, amritsar shetabide. You can book your train tickets online. not sure of the website, try searching on google! Good luck
