Please answer a few questions for me. I need it for school, and I don't know any ECEs.

1. Why did you take up ECE?

2. Where do you work and what is the nature of your job?

3. What are the key factors to be successful in the field of ECE?

If you feel uncomfortable divulging info here, please just email me privately. Thanks! Really will appreciate answers.

  1. Just to clarify, ECE means Electronics Communication Engineering. It's actually a college course, BS-ECE.

I'm still taking it up so i don't think answering it would be much help. But if anyone asked me why I took up this course, it's cause I'm very interested in electronics.

  2. I'm an engineer who worked in lots of fields, but what the %#$^$%^ is ECE?

    Electronic something...

And perhaps that is why you have no answers...

  3. 1. Because I was an electronics technician and I wanted a better pay check, I also was good at math and physics and finally my adviser in college said I couldn't do it because it was too hard.

    2. I work in the Aviation field for the defense department. I design the electrical/power systems for helicopters. On a regular day I figure out what kind of design specifications need to be taken into effect( i.e. how much power each component needs radio, heating systems, GPS). After it's integrated into the aircraft I supervisor the live test either in the hanger or on the fligth line.

    3. Public speaking, ability to travel, confidence in the work you present, understanding how the business behind engineering works, wanting to learn more by understanding you don't know all the answers and finally staying current on what new technology is coming out.

    Good Luck

  4. 1. I love electronics and doing electronic projects.

    2. I'm still a student but I know the nature of work I'll be entering after graduating (if I pass the board exam, hopefully). There are 4 fields of EcE you can choose after graduating:

    -Telecommunication

    -Broadcasting

    -Information Technology

    -Semiconductor

It's up to you what you want most, but I recommend Information Technology since it is the broadest and most exciting among others. Technology nowadays is changing rapidly.

    3. To become successful in EcE, you should excel in math and science. EcE subjects are very hard. You have to be an analytical thinker since it is more on analysis.

Hope this answer will help you choose what career you're looking for. But the most important is what is in your heart. Follow what it says. I'm sure you're going to be successful if you choose the path your heart is preferring to. God bless :-)
