I had to cut down 3 trees due to the roots causing damage to my walkways & sewage system. I now now have 3 tree stumps that still have growth, shoots & new 'branches blooming. Does anyone know of a good organic way to kill these stumps????

  1. Use big scissor thingies

  2. I need to know also.

  3. drill holes and fill them with gas !

    burn baby burn .......

  4. Salt.

Drill holes and fill them up with salt.  You can also use epsom salt or salt peter.

  5. Start a rumor that theres buried treasure under one of the stumps?

Maybe you'll have more help than you'll ever need in digging them up.

To be serious, I can't find a product like that.  I have a cottonwood tree that has not only strangled my water system a few times, but has huge roots jutting up everywhere in my yard.  I hate the thing, but can't seem to kill it.

  6. "You can speed the natural decay process that eventually claims a tree stump. One way to do this is by cutting the stump flush with the ground, and situating your compost pile directly on top of it. The constant moisture, heat, and mycorrhizal fungal activity of the compost pile can cut the decay process in half.

You can also drill holes in the stump, and apply high-nitrogen organic fertilizers to the stump periodically. Blood meal and fish meal are two organic fertilizers high in nitrogen that increase the activity of the bacteria involved in stump decay.

  7. tree stump remover at wal mart , home depot, lowes good luck

  8. a chainsaw.. take the stump all the way down to the dirt and use a pick axe to take the rest of it out... just a little good old fashioned hard work.. thats always the best way to get things done... short cuts aren't the right answer... or cut the bottom off of a metal trash can, put it around the stump, soak the stump in kerosene and burn it out

  9. cover them with something thick! like an old piece of carpet.

all plants need sunlight as well as water..... if you keep them in the dark long enough they'll die! good luck!

    - you could hammer copper nails into them, (copper is organic - ish) that'll poison it but it will 'probably' also poison the earth around the tree/roots killing more or less anything in the area!

  10. termites

  11. well i think the only way is too burn the stumps. Not very organic i know but thats what u got to do.

  12. elbow grease.

    start digging
