There still should be an Original cast recording somewhere. Check out different stores and websites.

I have the CD, though never bothered to look at who,,, It was taken, I assume, from the film version. Sorry if that didn't help.

Yes there most certainly is - it's the Original London Cast of the show, with Sarah Brightman and Michael Crawford.  Amazon has it - when I searched for "Phantom of the Opera" under music, it was the second link on the page.
